This image of the Whirlpool galaxy was captured at the John Glenn Astronomy Park on May 14, 2026 under bortle 4 skies. The Whirlpool galaxy is 31 million light years away from Earth. Its unique look is caused by the galaxy NGC 5195 passing behind it.
